All of the cottages are situated in the grounds of Glaslyn House in idyllic surroundings on the bank of the upper reaches of the River Wye on the Brecknock/Radnor border in the heart of the most varied and beautiful scenery Wales can offer, with the famous Elan Valley Reservoirs nearby, the area truly deserves the title " The Lakeland of Wales".

Glaslyn is 2 miles south of Rhayader which is a friendly market town situated on the banks of the Wye and 10 miles north of Builth Wells off the main A470 road. The distances from the major centres are: Hereford 48 miles, Cardiff 77 miles, Worcester 68 miles, Birmingham 82 miles and London 185 miles. Glaslyn has nearly three and a half miles of Salmon, Trout and Grayling fishing on this beautiful stretch of the River Wye and a half a mile on the River Elan. There are a number of interesting birds in the area including Kingfishers, Buzzards, Dippers, Red Kites, Sandpipers, Peregrine Falcons and Ravens and we have a large number of Pied-Fycatchers in the nest boxes each year. You can also see Otters regularly in the river below the cottages.
The woodlands, natural lakes and reservoirs in the Elan Valley are Important areas for wildlife and a haven for bird watchers eager for further views of the Red Kites.

The area as a whole is noted as one of outstanding natural beauty and the cottages prove an excellent centre for touring Wales. There are also many fine walks in the area with the hill areas of Radnor Forest, Towy Forest, the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons National Park and the Elan Valley all within easy reach.
